Auf Bali habe ich das Glück Freunde zu besuchen. Nach all den Wochen des Reisens eine fantastische Abwechslung. Schnell merke ich auf Bali, dass das Mieten eines Autos genauso logisch ist, wie eine Bootsfahrt in der Wüste. Die Straßen sind chronisch überfüllt und so ist die einzig sinnvolle Anschaffung ein Roller. Schnell und wendig umgeht man so viele der zahlreichen Staus. Ich habe das Glück, dass Urs mit mir gemeinsam meine Wunschziele auf der Insel ansteuert. Einer dieser Orte ist der Tanah Lot Tempel. Spielt dieser Wassertempel in der Rangfolge eher eine untergeordnete Rolle im hinduistischen Glauben auf Bali, ist die Kulisse jedoch umso impulsanter. Bei Ebbe über die glitschigen Steine erreichbar, liegt Tanah Lot bei Flut abgeschnitten vom Festland vor der Insel. Wir haben das Glück früh genug vor Ort zu sein, um uns der Anlage noch etwas nähern zu können, bevor die Aufseher den Weg zum Heiligtum komplett sperren. Beeindruckt bewundern wir die immer stärker anbrandenden Wellen. Fast gespenstig liegt er nun einsam auf seinem Felsvorsprung und zieht mich und viele andere Touristen, Einheimische und Gläubige von der Ferne in seinen Bann.
If you want to through Bali on your own, you should rent a bike. Due to the fact that the streets are mostly overcrowded, you will be able to avoid traffic jam on two wheels. On Bali I have the pleasure to discover the island with my friend Urs and his bike. One of the spots I want to see is the Tanah Lot temple. It´s a small temple that is located on a rock in front of the coast on the south of Bali. At low water you can walk over to the sanctuary. In that case you should be really careful, because the rocks are greasy and several tourists already slipped on their try to go over. We arrive at the beginning of the high tide and enjoy the view with blustering waves swirling around the temple rock. It´s strange that this place cast a spell on me, even though I´m not able to see it from close up.
