It was the most desperate defeat Arsenal have suffered in the Premier League, with their previous worst a 6-1 loss at the same ground in February 2001. I think Arsenal could need a player like Scott Parker to get their season under way after two defeats and a draw.
I think they desperately need a player like Scott Parker who is known for his attitude and is a tough tackling central midfielder who likes to get forward. Yes, I think it is not unlikely that Arsenal make an offer that better meets West Ham’s valuation than the amounts that seem to be on the table so far.
QPR are said to have offered a ridiculous £4m for the three time Hammer of the Year and the PFA Player of the year 2010. But also Tottenham, the favourites to land the England international are rumoured to be only offering a fee around the £4-5m mark, with attached bonus payments and an part-exchange or loan deal for one of their fringe players.
Maybe Arsenal’s humiliating defeat at Old Trafford will lead to the conclusion at the Emirates that after having lost Fabregas and Nasri they need an experienced midfield General like Scott Parker. But would Arsenal be prepared to meet the £8m that West Ham are rating their star player?
For the West Ham supporters it would be a pleasure to tell Spurs (who’ve have also lost out in humiliating manner to Manchester City last weekend, too) where to go, and sell Parker to Arsenal! If we are to lose him, and Parker wants to play Premier League football to remain in contention for Fabio Capello‘s England squad and the Euro next year, he ‘d better chose the mighty Arsenal … if Arsene Wenger wants him, of course.
It is said that Parker who is over 30 years of age would be paid £45,000 a week at Spurs, in comparison with the alleged c.65-70,000 that he earns at West Ham… Arsenal, a club playing Champions League football, could be able to meet the players expectations.
OK, M. Wenger, think it over … Scotty could be your man!
