(Deutsche Version unten) – After a posting about my trip to the beautiful Schloss Fuschl and before posting a new giveaway tomorrow and a new autumn look, I wanted to show you a special card arrived a few days ago. You all know that I travel a lot during the last years and stayed most times in Starwood hotels (Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis, Le Meridien, W-Hotels, Four-Points, Elements, A-Loft) worldwide and a lot of people sent emails to me – asking how I always get these beautiful hotelrooms…
The explanation is very easy – approx. 10 years ago I joined a new hotel program by Starwood (SPG) and you can collect “nights” and “stays” and will receive upgrades, amenities and also free-nights for this hotel brand. So with about 800 hotels worldwide (especially in Europe and the USA) ten years ago, it was really interesting for me and I joined for free. After a few months I got my first status upgrade and till the end of the year I got my 25+ stays and 50+ nights on that brand and received the first “Platinum-Status”.
The better your status is, the better the rooms… so most hotels gave you an upgrade (e.g. you book street-view and will get ocean-view with balcony for free) – and from time to time, when junior suites where available – they will also upgrade you. With more and more years on the program and continously Platinum member the suites and amenities get nicer and nicer… 
So this summer was again my 25th stay / 50th night in a hotelroom during this year at Starwood Hotels (SPG) so I completed my 10th year in a row… and become one of the first German members (if I am right – I am number #82) with a special new status – Lifetime Platinum – that means for me no more nights counting, no more stays, whenever I want to visit a Starwood hotel worldwide – I will always get the best rooms available (and paying for a regular room!) … that makes travelling really beautiful and comfortable.
The package I received by Starwood Preferred Guest came directly from the USA and included the new “Platinum-Card” made of metal (really heavy – approx. 20g) and my personal travel map – a really cute idea with all the spots I visited during the last ten years… So I am sure, I will write more and more about special Starwood hotels worldwide (let me know if there is a beautiful hotel in your neighborhood and I will think about a trip to your place…) – If you also want to apply (it is free!) – and may be start collecting nights during the next years – go to SPG.com – thank you very much Starwood for this wonderful package…

(German version) – Nachdem ich in den letzten Tagen bereits über meinen Aufenthalt in Schloss Fuschl geschrieben habe und morgen über das neue Giveaway und meinen Herbst-Look, möchte ich euch heute noch eine spezielle Karte zeigen, die vor einigen Tagen angekommen ist. Wie Ihr alle wisst, reise ich sehr viel – gerade auch in den letzten Jahren und habe die meiste Zeit in Starwood Hotels (Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis, Le Meridien, W-hotels, Four-Points, Elements, Aloft) weltweit verbracht und viele von Euch haben mir Emails geschickt, wie ich immer die tollen Zimmer bekomme…
Die Erklärung ist relativ einfach – vor ungefähr 10 Jahren habe ich mich einmal bei einem Hotelprogramm names Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) angemeldet und man konnte “Nächte” und “Aufenthalte” sammeln und erhielt im Gegenzug die Möglichkeit für Upgrades, Aufmerksamkeiten oder auch kostenlose Übernachtungen für diese Hotels in dieser Kette. Daher war es für mich interessant, mit über 800 Hotels weltweit (damals vor allem auch USA und Europa) und ich habe mich einfach mal kostenlos angemeldet. Nach wenigen Monaten hatte ich bereits meinen ersten Status erhalten und bis zum Jahresende hatte ich meine 25 Aufenthalte und 50 Nächte zusammen und den ersten “Platin-Status” erhalten.
Je besser der Status ist, desto besser sind die Zimmer… daher geben die meisten Hotels ein Upgrade (z.B. Ihr bucht reguläre Sicht zur Straße und erhaltet z.B. Zimmer mit Meerblick und Balkon ohne Aufpreis) – und von Zeit zu Zeit gab es dazu Junior-Suiten und immer häufiger Upgrades. Mit mehr und mehr Jahren im Programm und durchgehendem Platin Status wurden die Suiten schöner und häufiger und die Aufmerksamkeiten persönlicher und netter… 
In diesem Jahr war es dann so weit und ich hatte im Sommer schon wieder meinen 25. Aufenthalt / 50. Nacht zusammen bei Starwood Hotels (SPG) und mein 10. Jahr in Folge als Platin-Gast vollständig… Starwood Preferred Guest ernennt Ihre Gäste dann zum “Platin-Gast-auf-Lebenszeit” und es ist nicht mehr nötig Nächte oder Aufenthalte zu sammeln. In Deutschland bin ich wohl im Moment #82 mit dem tollen Status und ich erhalte in Zukunft immer die schönsten verfügbaren Zimmer und Suiten und muss nur für ein normales Zimmer bezahlen… Das macht das Reisen wirklich schön und entspannt…
Das Paket was ich von Starwood Preferred Guest erhalten habe, kam direkt aus den USA und hat die neue “Platin-Card” enthalten – gefertigt aus Metall (wirklich schwer – ca. 20g) und meine persönliche Reisekarte der letzten 10 Jahre – eine wirklich schöne Erinnerung und tolle Idee.
