Die nächste Generation der Intel Prozessoren (Ivy Bridge) soll ab nächster Woche schon im Handel sein. Intel bestätigte, dass die erste Welle der Chips die Quad-Core Modelle u.a. für Desktop-Computer beinhalten wird. Die nächste Welle wird dan die Dual-Core-CPUs für Notebooks und Co. beinhalten.
CNET berichtete dies nachdem die Quartalszahlen von Intel bekannt gegen wurden:
"The first versions of Ivy Bridge that we’re shipping are quad cores, and then bulk of those are going into desktops, and then the second launch of the products is in the dual core, which is the mainstream notebooks. So I think that helps put a profile over the course of quarter as well."
Durch diese Ankündigung währe allerdings auch noch genug Zeit für Apple seine Produktreihe der Macs zu aktualisieren.
