Kindness

Do you remember this smash-hit “Swingin’ Party” back in October 2009? These days everybody was wondering who that Kindness is and it was hard to guess and discover. Today i can tell it’s british guy Adam Bainbridge, who has been living in London and Berlin. For the past two and a half years there was nothing new next to “Gee Up”, which was B-side on “Swingin’ Party”, but on 19th of march he released his debut LP World, You Need A Change of Mind on Female Energy and today it’s out in the US on Chris Taylor’s Terrible Records.

Bainbridge is a modernist, but all in all his debut is a homage to House music. That kind of House and Disco music avantgardist Arthur Russell and James Murphy have been in love with. But he is not one of these lo-fi retromaniacs. He likes the sounds of the past but still combines a saxophone with a drum-machine (see a quote on br.de). The LP was recorded under the assistance of french producer Phillipe Zdar of Cassius, who is responsible for the last Beastie Boys and Phoenix records as well.

So put on World, You Need A Change Of Mind and do what it was made for: Dance! “‘Cause when we dance we’re all the same, try to lose yourself in sound.” (Lyrics from opener “SEOD”)
