Ghastly surroundings, eerie creatures and hidden faces – that´s what characterises the picture of 20-year old artist Katrina from Munich.
„In my pictues, I try to point at the vacuity that inherits men: Men as ghosts without a name and face. If you would meet yourself, your living part, in your dreams, you would look at yourself in exactly that way.“
Here we see her black-and-white series „Eerie Vacuity“ which stands out due to its haunting, dreamlike atmosphere.
The pictures were taken in an old building in Katrinas hometown. This place bears a great fascination to the young photographer:
„The room was very large and high, with wooden roof beams, old walls made of bricks and carriages and horse fences from an older century. The place was magical. You could walk up some stairs leading to a small adjoining room. In there you would find yourself in some sort of dream. Hundreds of silken threads and dust that would cover the air would blend with a soft light, that is passing through gloomy windows. When I am older, I want to live in this place“.

Gespenstische Atmosphäre, verschwommene Figuren und unklare Gesichter- das zeichnet die Bilder der 20-jährigen Münchner Künstlerin Katrina aus.
„Ich versuche, die Leere, die den Menschen eignet, auf den Bildern herauszukehren: den Menschen als Geist ohne Namen und Gesicht erscheinen zu lassen. Würde man im Traum sich selbst, der lebendigen Gestalt, begegnen, dann sähe man sich so.“
Hier sehen wir ihre Schwarz-Weiß-Serie „Eerie Vacuity“, die sich ebenfalls durch eine geisterhafte, traumhafte Stimmung auszeichnet.
Die Bilder entstanden in einem alten Gebäude in Katrinas Heimat. Dieser Ort birgt eine große Faszination für die Fotografin: „Der Raum war sehr groß und hoch, mit Dachbalken aus Holz, alten Mauern aus Ziegelsteinen und Kutschen und Pferdezäumen aus einem anderen Jahrhundert. Es war ein sehr magischer Ort. Man konnte in einem kleinen Nebenraum eine Stiege hinauf und dort oben befand man sich in einem Traum. Hunderte Seidene Fäden und der Staub, der die Luft bedeckte, vermischten sich mit einem weichen Licht, das die trüben Fensterscheiben querte. Wenn ich älter bin, will ich dort wohnen.“
