Heute ist Tết Nguyên đán, der erste Tag des ersten Monats im lunaren Kalender. Und damit natürlich auch der Beginn eines neuen Jahres, dem Jahr des Drachen. Ich bin ja auch im Jahr des Drachen geboren, so dass ich hoffe, dass es ein glückverheißendes Jahr sein wird.Allerdings fängt es schon nicht besonders gut an. Aus persönlichen Gründen kann ich schon nicht an den Tet-Feiern teilnehmen, und ohne Kamera auch keine Bilder schicken. Gestern mittag haben mich zwar meine beiden Nachbarn, links und rechts, bereits mit Alkohol abgefüllt, aber das Feuerwerk habe ich dann nachts nicht mehr sehen können. Auch heute müssen die obligatorischen Besuche ausfallen.
Ist es nicht wirklich schön hier? Ich kann insgesamt viermal Neujahr feiern: Sylvester im europäischen Kalender, dann Tết Nguyên đán im Januar/Februar, gefolgt vom Sour Sdey Chnam Tmey, dem Neujahr der Khmer-Minderheit im April und schließlich das Kate-Fest der Cham im Oktober.
Tet verlief hier zumindest sehr ruhig. Ich schrieb ja schon, Barbaren! Wir sind halt sehr weit vom Ursprungsgebiet der Vietnamesen und ihrer Kultur entfernt. Das Mekongdelta ist ja erst offiziell seit 1832 Teil Vietnams und bis heute hegt Kambodscha Anspruch auf dieses Gebiet (zumindest der rechte politische Flügel). Dementsprechend sind Tet-Traditionen sehr durchwachsen, eben weil hier unterschiedlichste Völker leben: Cham, Hoa (Chinesen), Thai, Khmer und eben Viet.Nun, trotz allem wünsche ich allen Lesern ein frohes neues Jahr des Drachen! Gesundheit und Glück. Möge das Geld fließen wie Wasser und alle Dinge, die du dir wünschst, zu dir kommen!

Today is Tết Nguyên đán, the first day of the first month in the lunar calender. And therefore a new year has started, this time the Year of the Dragon. It is a Nham Thin Year, a Water- Dragon-Year, one of three luckiest years possible! Since I am also born in a Dragon Year, I hopefully will be lucky and happy the whole time. However, Tết Nguyên đán does not start luckily for me. Due to personal reasons I am not able to celebrate, and without camera I also cannot take pictures. Yesterday my two neighbours took me for drinking, but the fireworks in the night I already missed. And also the visits today are cancelled.
But I am happy in Vietnam. I can attend altogether four new years here: the European sylvester, the Tết Nguyên đán of Vietnam in January/February, followed by Sour Sdey Chnam Tmey, the New Year of the Khmer living in this part of Vietnam celebrated in April and last the Kate-Festival of the Cham in October.
Tet was really quiet here. I wrote already, all barbarians here! We are far from the birth of Vietnamese and Vietnamese culture. The Mekongdelta became Vietnamese offically in 1832 and the parts of the Lower Mekong are still be claimed by Cambodia (at least by the right political wing). And due to this different peoples are living here together
