In kaum einer Metropole ist die Kunst-, Kreativ- und Musikszene so lebendig und dynamisch wie hier in Berlin. Grund genug für den New Yorker Musiker Allen Devine, sein aktuelles Album “Thrillride“, erschienen am 30.09.11 bei Cannary Row Records, voll und ganz dieser Stadt zu widmen. Auf dem Album reflektiert und beschreibt er die Zeit, die er hier in der Hauptstadt verbrachte.
“Thrillride was recorded in the historical Hausvogteiplatz area of Berlin.
I was very influenced by the sights and sounds of Berlin when putting together “Thrillride”.
There is a tune on the disc called “Berlin Way” which captures the very essence of the Berlin vibe. Creative people from all over the world find their way to Berlin and stay because of the energy and the fun atmosphere not always commonplace in other cities of the world.”
Ganz im Stil seiner bisherigen Alben ist auch “Thrillride” gespickt mit raffinierter Gitarrenmusik, umgesetzt in leicht fließenden „Pop“-Songs, neben nachdenklichen, melancholischen Balladen. Die Musik spiegelt die verschiedenen Musikrichtungen wieder, die Allen Devine als Inspiration dienen:
“I am a big fan of all things POP. I love vocal harmonies and catchy tunes that are not too long.
The short list would be The Beatles, The early Rolling Stones, Bigstar, or David Bowie.
I also love listening to the girl groups of the sixties like The Supremes, The Shangri Las, The Ronettes etc.
Although “Thrillride” is pretty much a Pop disc, I enjoy the energy of The Ramones as well as New York Dolls and the list goes on. In my mind it is ALL POP MUSIC with different twists and turns!!”
