Wir haben Argentinien Goodbye gesagt und sind ueber die Anden nach Santiago de Chile gereist. Chile ist wohl das Land mit den strengsten Zollbeamten der Welt, jedenfalls nehmen sie die Vorschriften sehr ernst: nicht nur kontrollierten sowohl das Handgepaeck aller 60 Passagiere mit dem Scanner, sie nahmen sich auch die Zeit, den gesamten Bus mit Spuerhunden zu durchkaemmen und den Gepaeckraum mit dem grossen Gepaeck bis auf's letzte Stueck aus- und danach wieder einzuraeumen. Dies alles, um sicherzugehen, dass niemand einen frischen Apfel ins Land einfuehrt! Die ganze Prozedur (inkl. Passkontrolle versteht sich) dauert dann so an die 2 Stunden und dann bist du im Land - wir haben uns selbst auf die Schultern geklopft! :-)
We said goodbye to Argentina and drove over the Andes to Santiago de Chile. Chile's border police is probably the most rigid in the world as they take their regulations very serious: not only did they control the handluggage of all 60 passengers by x-ray, they also took their time to inspect the whole bus with sniffling dogs and would also take ALL the luggage from the trunk out and load it back in, just to make sure nobody's bringing a fresh apple to the country! The whole procedure (including passport control) lasted approximately 2 hours and then - we entered the country. We were very proud!
