Siren’s call fails to impress authorities
A US$12 siren landed two friends in trouble after they installed it on a motorbike and drove down National Road 4. Police said road users in Kandal province’s Ang Snoul district thought a convoy was approaching and swerved off the street in surprise on Sunday. The men, aged 22 and 25, told police that they bought the siren to help clear the streets for them to drive down, as the traffic was always bad. They said they had no idea it could be an illegal act. Police educated them on traffic rules.
KOH SANTEPHEAPKeen teen singer finds no money, no karaoke
A KARAOKE-LOVING teenager spent a night in police custody after being accused of causing disorder at a singing parlour in Kratie town on Saturday. The 14-year-old boy was arrested after becoming drunk and singing karaoke without having any money to pay for the services. Military police detained him for a night, before his parents paid US$18 for his vocal escapade.
