Wir haben vor drei Wochen die Berlin Pressdays besucht. Neben vielen Kollektionen, die uns vor allem durch schönes Design gefielen, blieben uns andere darüber hinaus wegen der Idee dahinter im Kopf. Vor allem ist uns das Projekt “Raw for the Oceans” der Marke G-Star RAW aufgefallen. Wir freuen uns daher euch heute das Projekt ein bisschen genauer vorstellen zu können…
Three weeks ago we visited the German Pressdays. While some collections appealed to us only because of beautiful designs, other collections also had a concept that . Especially the project “Raw for the Oceans” from the denim brand G-Star RAW attracted our attention. As we really liked the idea of that project, we are super happy to share it with you today…
Das Label G-Star RAW ist seit Ende der 80er Jahre bekannt, vor allem für ihre Denimkollektionen. Zusammen mit Bionic Yarn, Parley for the Oceans und Pharell Williams produzieren sie seit knapp einem Jahr Kollektionen aus recyceltem Kunststoff. Die Linie nennt sich “Raw For The Oceans” und widmet sich der Befreiung der Meere von Plastikabfall. Das Maskottchen ist ein Tintenfisch, der sich bei allen Teilen wiederfindet. Mal plakativ als großflächiger Print, mal nur für den Träger sichtbar.
Wir haben uns sofort in diese Boyfriend Jeans verguckt, die unglaublich zart und angenehm zu tragen ist, was wir bei dem Material nicht unbedingt erwartet hätten. Insgesamt sind alle Teile überraschend weich und wir konnten es gar nicht glauben, als wir die Geschichte dazu hörten. Wir haben uns für Basics aus der Kollektion entschieden, da sie sich vielseitig kombinieren lassen. Es gibt jedoch auch einige Statementteile, die es uns definitiv auch angetan haben. Since the 1980ies the Dutch label G-Star Raw is known for denim clothing. About a year ago they teamed up with Bionic Yarn, Parley for the Oceans and the musician Pharell Williams to produce collection made of recycled ocean plastic. The aim of the project is to retrieve plastic from the oceans and make denim of it. The projects mascot is a cute calamary. You can find it on every single piece of the collection. Sometimes as a flashy print on the front sometimes hidden in the inner lining.
As you can see on the pictures both of us fell in love with the boyfriend jeans. It is unbelievably soft and comfy to wear, which you would not expect with that story behind. We choose basics for our outfits, but there are also amazing statement pieces in the collection, that definitely have a spot on our whishlist now.
