Todays fiddle friday has to be a short one. I have been on a quick trip to the seaside with my BFF Tanja (a pretty picture is on the bottom of the post) and we had fun talking and thinking about upcoming craft ideas.When I came home yesterday I had happy mail: Spellbinders Paper Arts sent me some dies to play with. The first thing I had in mind was stenciling with a brand new die called "Tapestry", you can find it here: click. What I just made with it and more English can be found if you scroll down.
Heute muss der Frickel-Freitag schnell gehen. Ich habe ein paar Tage Sommerfrische mit meiner Bastel-Tanja an der See verbracht (ein Foto findet ihr am Ende des Posts). Als ich gestern nach Hause kam hatte ich schöne Post: Spellbinders haben mir neue Stanzen zum Spielen geschickt!
Das brachte mein Bastelhirn zum rattern während ich noch den Koffer ausgepackt habe! Als erstes hatte ich die neue Stanze "Tapestry" im Auge, ein traumhaftes Muster welches man endlos verlängern kann. Ihr findet die Stanzform hier: Klick!
Der erste Versuch machte mich kluch. (Ja, ich weiss, wie klug geschrieben wird, ich bin ja nicht dof ;-) )
Ich wollte ein Urlaubsmitbringsel (Tasse) mit ostfriesischen Farben (blau) schablonieren. Allerdings habe ich in meinem Fundus kein geeignetes Klebematerial gefunden. Weil ich ein bisschen unter Zeitdruck stehe damit mein Frickel-Freitag heute fertig wird, hab ich es mit ungeeignetem versucht, mit Holografiefolie:
I have cut some holografic foil with the tapestry die to get a stencil for a blank china cup I have bought during my holiday. It was NOT the perfect material for stenciling on a cup with that shape. I will experiment with other materials soon and let you know which stencil works better. I have put the foil on the cup and used Marabu procellain paint with a sponge to colour the mug.
Ich habe die Folie auf die Tasse geklebt und mit einem Schwamm Marabu Porzellanfarbe aufgetragen. Da die Folie sich nicht perfekt an die Tasse angepasst hat wurde das Ergebnis nicht perfekt. War ja klar...
Please keep in mind that you save the backing of the holografic foil as a stecil for further projects! Because it is waxed paper you can use it in many ways.
Bitte denkt daran, die Rückseite der Holo-Folie aufzuheben! Weil diese aus gewachstem Papier besteht kann man diesen "Rest" wunderbar für weitere Projekte benutzen.
The finished cup looked like this. It's far from beeing perfect, but the imperfection in the result has it's own charm. I really like it, but it is not a project I can recommend.
Die fertige Tasse sah sehr hübsch aus, aber da das Muster sehr ausgefranst ist kann ich diese Verfahrensweise nicht empfehlen. Ich mag es, aber das muss noch besser werden!
I made another die cut with foil, this time I took some decoration foil I used on my crafting table. It is made by a german manufacturer: DC-Fix wood foil. I like the stucture of the foil and it works really well on glas and other surfaces. I glued it on one of my grandmothers preserving jars and call it a "sewing box" now. To follow the round parts of the jar I have cut off some details of the die where needed. Project finished, fiddle friday done. Hope you like it.
Aus einer anderen Folie habe ich das Muster noch einmal ausgeschnitten, diesmal aus DC-Fix Holzimitat. Ich hatte Reste davon nachdem ich meinen Basteltisch damit überzogen hatte. Ich liebe DC Fix und habe noch sehr viele Ideen damit. Die Folie hält auch gut auf Glas und ich habe sie auf eins von Omas alten Einmachgläsern geklebt. Wo ich der Krümmung des Glases folgen musste habe ich Details des Muster abgeschnitten, falls nötig. Nun habe ich ein Sammelglas für Garnrollen.
Das heutige Projekt ist fertig, der Frickel-Freitag abgehakt. *puh* Ich hoffe es gefällt euch.
Finally a picture from the North Sea: My BFF Tanja taking a picture of a seagull. Don't be fooled: The sea isn't much deeper at this beach, it's called "Wattenmeer" and means you cannot swim there, unless you are smaller than 30 centimeter. But at least we bathed our feet. Fun!
Und hier endlich das versprochene Seebild: Bastelfreundin Tanja knipst ne Möwe. Am Wattenmeer. Wo man nicht schwimmen kann wenn man größer ist als 30 Zentimeter. Aber man kann die Füße nass machen. Besser als nix.
