Nach dem Motto besser spät als nie, gibt es heute noch meinen Potsdam Reisebericht. Während meines Wochenendes in Berlin habe ich nämlich an einem Tag auch einen Abstecher nach Potsdam gemacht. Der Bahnhof Potsdam gehört im Bereich C noch zum Berliner Verkehrsverbund und man ist mit der S-Bahn recht schnell dort. So haben mein Freund und ich uns entschlossen auch einmal dort hinzufahren. Wir waren zwar beide schonmal in Potsdam aber ich war damals so klein, dass ich mich kaum noch daran erinnere. Außerdem hat sich in der Stadt seitdem einiges getan, es werden nämlich im Moment alte Bauwerke, die dem Krieg und der DDR zum Opfer gefallen sind rekonstruiert.
On my last weekend trip to Berlin I also spent one day in the beautiful city Potsdam, whose train station still belongs to area C of Berlins transport system. Better late then never I want to show you my Potsdam Travel Diary today.
With the train you only need about forty-five minutes from Berlin to Potsdam and so my boyfriend and me decided to visit the city. We both already saw it before, but I was pretty young back then and couldn't really remember a lot of it. Moreover there is a lot of things changing in Potsdam right now, because there are old buildings reconstructed. Most of them were destroyed in the war or GDR times.
Unser erster Stopp waren daher die Nikolaikirche und das Stadtschloss. Das Schloss wurde rekonstruiert und ich finde es ist sehr gelungen. Man muss bedenken, dass von dem Schloss rein gar nichts übrig geblieben war und es somit komplett rekonstruiert wurde. Außer, dass die Farben und alles noch sehr neu aussehen fällt das kaum auf. Bei der Nikolaikirche dachte ich am Anfang auch, dass sie frisch rekonstruiert wurde aber in der Tat wurde sie nur gerade erst sauber gemacht. Im ganzen Viertel um die Kirche und das Schloss herum wird viel gearbeitet und rekonstruiert. Man wird also in den nächsten Jahren wohl immer etwas neues entdecken, wenn man Potsdam besucht. Ich finde das ingesamt toll, solche alten Kulturstätten wieder aufzubauen.
In der Kirche waren wir auch drin und sie lässt sich auch von innen sehen, außerdem kostet das ganze keinen Eintritt.
Von dort aus sind wir dann zum Brandenburger Tor und schließlich zum Park Sanssouci gelaufen.
Our first stop was the Church of St. Nicholas and the city palace. The palace was reconstructed not long ago and I think it looks really good and authentic. You just have to think of the fact, that there was nothing left of this palace at all and they had to reconstruct it completely out of nothing. And besides expect the fresh colors it doesn't look new at all. The funny thing is, first I also thought that the church was reconstructed because the colors also look really new, but in the end it was just recently cleaned up. In the whole area around the church a lot of things are getting reconstructed at the moment and I think you will always see something new when you visit this city in the next years. I think it's really great that they are trying to give us some buildings of our culture back.
By the way the church also looks great inside and it doesn't even cost anything to go inside.
After that we walked to the Brandenburger Tor and then the Park Sanssouci.
Hier sollten jetzt eigentlich Bilder vom Park Sanssouci sein, doch diese darf ich auf Grund des Urheberrechts leider nicht zeigen. Ich habe sie zwar alle selbst geschossen, doch zur Veröffentlichung braucht man eine Genehmigung, von der Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten. Ich finde das vollkommen bescheuert, da diese den Park zwar pflegen und die Schlösser Instand halten, sie ihnen aber nicht gehören und diese Schlösser ein Teil unserer Kultur sind. Welchen Nutzen hat die Stiftung daran, sie Urheberrechtlich schützen zu lassen? Ja richtig Geld. Ich habe der Stiftung auch geschrieben, allerdings hätte ich mich durch komplizierte Formulare wälzen und etwas zahlen müssen um die Bilder in diesem Post zu zeigen.
Naja was vom Park erzählen darf ich euch trotzdem, mein Wort ist nämlich nicht urheberrechtlich geschützt. Der Park Sanssouci ist einfach riesig und es gibt darin sehr viele Schlösser zu sehen: das Schloss Sanssouci, die Orangerie, die alten Kammern, das Neue Palais und das Schloss Belvedere. Ich hoffe ich habe jetzt keins vergessen. Wir waren eigentlich den ganzen Tag in diesem Park unterwegs und haben uns die Schlösser von außen angeschaut. Alle richtig schön und es ist insgesamt eine tolle Parkanlage.
Nur Möglichkeiten etwas zu Mittag zu Essen gab es leider herzlich wenige. Wir waren dann letzten Endes im Drachenhaus - einem Restaurant im Park -, das ich euch definitiv nicht empfehlen kann. Für jeweils eine Suppe, eine Brotzeit die wir uns geteilt haben und ein einziges Bier haben wir fast 30€ gezahlt. Die Brotzeit bestand aus zwei Scheiben Brot, die in der Mitte durchgeschnitten wurden und dann mit 4 verschiedenen Belegen belegt wurden und einer ganzen Menge Grünzeug. Vielleicht bin ich da zu süddeutsch, aber für mich ist eine Brotzeit etwas anderes und vor allem viel mehr! Satt waren wir am Ende nicht wirklich, aber Abendessen gab es dann wieder zurück in Berlin.
Well, at this party of the post I wanted to show you pictures of the Park Sanssouci but our German copyright law is really strict and all the buildings and the whole park are protected by copyright. To publish pictures of it you need some kind of permission. I tried to get one, but the only reason why the park is protected is money, they just want to get money from all the photographers. So I didn't fill out all this complicated forms and buy a permission. I think that's a pity because it just belongs to our culture.
So I can't show you pictures but I can talk about the park. It is really huge and there are a lot of palaces in it: the Sanssouci Palace, the Orangery Palace, the old chambers, the New Palace and the Belvedere Palace. Hopefully I didn't forget one. So we needed the whole day to walk through the park and see all the palaces from the outside.
The only bad thing was, that there weren't a lot of possibilities to get some lunch, in the end we found a place called Dragon House in the park that I really can't recommend you. For two soups, a brown-bag lunch and one beer we payed around 30€ and the brown-bag lunch was just two slices of bread with topping and a lot of green stuff. Maybe I think to much like a South German person but for me a brown-bag lunch is a lot more than that. So in the end we weren't even sated.
Insgesamt hatten wir einen wirklich schönen Tag in Potsdam. Im nach hinein habe ich mich ziemlich über das Urheberrecht geärgert und über das sinnlos ausgegebene Mittagsessens Geld. Aber ich kann es dir trotzdem nur empfehlen diese schöne Stadt voller Schlösser mal zu besuchen.
