A year ago the construction of the Golden Tower was halted, with 29 of 42 floors in the building shell.

Local investors are now forming an association to demand that their earlier deposits be paid back if construction does not resume. The South-Korean based owner and developer Yon Woo, is not able to give any restart date. This building was supposed to be a reputation for Phnom Penh and the Kingdom of Cambodia. Experts warn that there might be an oversupply of commercial spaces and condominium buildings in greater Phnom Penh area.
