Die Hersteller spielen in den Letzten Jahre mehr und mehr ihr Trumpf in der finishing als an der Farbe. Ja weil, sind wir doch ehrlich, Farbe gibt es mittlerweile wie Sand am Meer. Ich finde dieser Anpassung kann nur gut tun.
OPI hat in seine Kollektion die sogenannte „Sorbet“ lanciert. Eine witzige Variante von Jelly die übersetzt heisst „Gelée“ allerdings habe ich einen gewissen Konflikt mit dieser Übersetzung. Ich bin kanadischer Abstammung, und meine Mutter machte uns immer Jell-O als wir Kinder waren, die amerikanische Version einer Götterspeise. Als erwachsene hörte ich das Wort „Gel“ (also Haargel) und musste lachen. „Gel“ spricht man in Deutsch mit einem harten G wie „Golf“ und „jell-o“ mit einem weichen G wie „James“. Obwohl im Grunde beide diese ähnlich gelierte Konsistenz haben, kommt mir immer dieses Bild aus meiner Jugend in den Sinn wenn ich dieser jelly sehe. Darum kann ich hier „Gel“ nicht als Wort verwenden sondern vielmehr Jelly.
Und hier sind sie!
In the last years the Brands are bringing more and more different finishing rather than colors. I find this god because, let’s face it, we have tons of colors out there!!
OPI lauched this spring/sommer collection “sorbets”. It’s not a really alternative to Jelly’s. And here I have a nice story about the word “jelly”. I am born in Canada and our mom always made us jell-o when we were kids, and jell-o have the same texture as hair gel. Her’s the thing: in English you pronounce the “J” (for jell-o) like James and in German the pronunciation of “G” (for gel) like Golf.
So when I saw the Sorbets, the first thing that comes me in mind was this Jell-o and because the pronunciation is so different in German, I find it hard to compare gel with jell-o. Are you getin it!!
Anyhow, here are the sorbets or jelly as you prefer.
GUY MEETS GAL-VESTON
Ich überleg mir an welche Frucht Sorbet mich dieser Farbe erinnerte, ich finde aber keine passende Frucht. Es ist zu hell für Wassermelone oder auch für Himbeeren. Auf die Nägel kommt mich sofort Flower-to-Flower in Sinn, ein richtiger hin Gucker! Obwohl komplett anders in Formula und Farbe, ist aber ein hin Gucker.
I am thinking of a fruit sorbet that can be compared to this color: is not watermelon and either raspberry. The first impression when on the nail was: it is so gorgeous like Flower-to-Flower, but completely different in color and texture, but it is as well very nice.
BIG HAIR…BIG NAILS
Sehr ähnlich als der vordere, es gibt aber eine wesentlich unterschied. Big hair...big nails hat mehr roter stich während Guy meets Gal-Veston geht mehr ins pink. In der Flasche sehen fast identisch aus und auch aufgetragen merk mal keine grosse unterschied. Nur mit Sonnenlicht sieht Big Hair… Big Nails roter und Guy meets Gal-Veston mehr pink ist.
It is very similar to GUY MEETS GAL-VESTON, the only difference ist hat this one is more red, and the first one goes pink. You can not see the difference in the bottle, and on the nails they are still very similar. Only with day light you can see the difference.
WILL COME BACK YA HEAR?
Ich liebe Orange! Diese ist eine meine Favorit bei der sorbets. Mir erinnerte sofort an leckere Melonen sorbet aus der Gelateria Primavera oder noch besser an Papaya sorbet. Ich werde dieser Farbe bestimmt auch auf den Zehen auftragen. Orange ist nie falsch für den Sommer.
I love orange! This is one of my favorites in the sorbets. The first thing that I think about looking at this color is the delicious ice-creams of the Gelateria Primavera in the flavor melon or papaya. I will definitively wear this color on my toes this summer. Orange is always god for summer.
TOO HOT PINK TO HOLD ‚EM
Das ist einer richige pink-rote-erbeeren-sorbet. Ich denke dieser Farbe passt besonders gut auf Blondinen.
This ist the real straberry-sorbet-red. I think this color looks outstanding on blondes.
HOUSTON WE HAVE A PURPLE
In der Flasche ist es Violett wie Zwetschgen, aufgetragen sieht richtig gut aus wenn man es aber gut auftragen kann!!
Die Formulierung dieser Farbe ist wasseriger als die andere, dadurch wird das Auftragen diffizil.
This warm plum violet is very nice, but the texture?! Is much more watery than the other sorbets, very difficult to apply.
DO YOU THINK I’M TEXY?
Der Name verrät wie heiss dieser Farbe ist!! Himbeeren Sorbet für Geniesser. Dieser pink-violet sorbet gehört auch zu meine Favoriten.
The name give’s absolutly how hot is this color!! A yummy pink-plum raspberry red, again one of my favorites.
Deckkraft und Texture: Sorbets sind wasserig und so sehen sie auch aufgetragen, 2 schickten genügen nicht um eine gutes Ergebnisse zu erzielen, es müssen mindestens 3 schickten sein und auch denn erreichen sie nicht eine optimale Opazität. Nicht des zu trotz sind alle sorbets sehr glänzig. Bitte unter und über lack nicht vergessen.
Opacity and texture: sorbets are watery and out from HOUSTON WE HAVE A PURPLE they are all very smooth to apply. For a good opacity you have to apply it at least 3x and still you will see the free edge. Please don’t forget to apply a base coat underneath.
Unter der Strich: OPI hat da etwas Neues gewagt. Ich hoffe dass die Rechnung aufgeht da die Konsistenz dieser Sorbet hat mich nicht restlos begeistert. Die Formulierung ist gewohnungsbedürftig insbesondere für den dunklen HOUSTON WE HAVE A PURPLE. Meine Favoriten: auf jeden Fall der erfrischende Orange WILL COME BACK YA HEAR? und auch der sexy pink DO YOU THINK I’M TEXY? ist absolut sein name wurdig. Ich finde die sorbets in grosse und ganze als gelungen, hoffe nur das die nächste sorbets besser in der Formulierung werden.
The bottom line: OPI hazard something new, I hope it will be worth it because the texture of the sorbets are not as good as the creame’s and shimmer’s. The formula did not perfectly satisfied my expectations in particular HOUSTON WE HAVE A PURPLE. My favorites are the goergeus orange WILL COME BACK YA HEAR? aswell as the sexy pink DO YOU THINK I’M TEXY? Witch fits perfectly to the name. On the whole are the sorbets not soo bad, but I hope that OPI will improve the formula for the next sorbets.
