Es ist leider wieder kälter geworden, dass hindert mich jedoch nicht daran weiter Frühlings- und Sommerkleider zu nähen.Inspiriert von den zahlreichen fantastischen Versionen Roisins von Dolly Clackett habe ich mich an das Emery Kleid gesetzt. Wer sich Roisins Blog mal anschaut, wird all die tollen kitschigen, skurillen und wunderschönen Stoffe bewundern können, aus denen sie ihre Kleider zaubert. Ihre Kleider und Stoffe haben ein wahnsinniges Auch-Habenwollen-Gefühl ausgelöst und als ich diesen Stoff bei Karstadt entdeckte, dazu noch heruntergesetzt, musste ich ihn einfach kaufen und mich am Emery ausprobieren.

If you have a look at Roisin's blog, you will discover a wide range of beautifully made dresses with whimsical, droll and fabulous fabrics. All of her dresses and fabric choices stirred a desire and longing for those kind of dresses in me, thus, as I discovered this fabric, I knew I had to get it and make the Emery dress for myself.
Anders als bei den anderen, die sich an diesem Schnitt ausprobiert haben, hatte ich leider Probleme mit dem Oberteil, ich muss beim nächsten Mall wohl eine SBA durchführen, also eine kleine Brust Anpassung, definitiv keine FBA, denn ich hatte viel zu viel Stoff, der um die Brust Falten geworfen hat. Oder ich mach einfach, wie man es ja auch wirklich machen sollte, eine Probekleid. Naja, da der Stoff nur 4 Euro pro Meter gekostet, kann ich dieses wohl auch als Probekleid zählen, aber als tragbares.
Ich habe es komplett gefüttert und den Kragen aus einem weißen weichen, ganz leichten Baumwollstoff gemacht, den Gürtel habe ich aus Leinen angefertigt.
Contrary to all the other reports on the great fit of the bodice, I sadly run into some difficutlies with the fitting. I had far too much fabric around the bust and I should have done a SBA beforehand, like you should anyway, like always, I have to get into my head to always, always make a muslin, but I am usually too lazy to do that, are well, one lives and learns.
As this fabric only amounted to 4 euros per meter I'll just count this dress as a wearable muslin and know better next time.I lined the entire dress and made the collar out of a lovely soft and light cotton, the belt is made out of linen.
Was mich an diesem Schnitt anspricht ist der Kragen, den ich anhand des Sewalongs bei Christine Haynes zu einem Bubikragen umgewandelt habe und der gekräuselte Rock. Ich habe bereits das zweite in Arbeit, aber mit einem Rock, der dann in Falten gelegt it, statt Kräusel. Ich habe diesmal die Taschen mit angebracht, sind ja auch ganz nett, aber ehrlich gesagt benutze ih die nie, also mal sehen, ob ich sie nochmal einnähe.Den Kragen habe ich mit einigen wenigen Stichen am Oberteil festgenäht, damit er nicht ab und an hochklappt. Bei den Ärmel habe ich die lange Version genommen und beim Säumen dann gekürzt.
What I really like about this dress is the collar (I've longed for a Peter Pan collar like for ages) and the gathered skirt. I changed the collar into the Peter Pan collar with the help of Christine Haynes Sewalong. I have already the next Emery lined up, but with a pleated skirt instead of a gathered one.
Im unteren Bild kann man das Muster besser erkennen und auch warum ich es mein Holland-Kleid nenne: Es sind Windmühlen, Blumen, Schiffe und Hollandmädchen drauf - Frau Antje ähnlich ;D
In the picture below you can see the pattern of the dress more clearly and you will understand, why this is my Holland dress: There are wind mills, flowers, boats and Holland girls on it - in Germany everybody would recognize Frau Antje as the typical Holland girl ;D
Aber mit Musterstoffen ist das so ne Sache, wenn man nicht genau aufpasst, passt es nicht. Ich habe beim Zuschneiden drauf geachtet, dass ich alles passgenau aneinanderreihen kann, doch irgendwo auf dem Weg vom Zuschneiden zum Zusammennähen ist etwas schiefgelaufen und jetzt ist das Oberteil leicht versetzt und beim Rockteil verläuft auch nicht alles paralell, sondern läuft leicht spitz zu. Was solls, ist eh hinten und da ich es nicht sehe, ist mir das schnurzpiepegal!
But patterns are tricky to match up, and if you're not careful, well, then it doesn't fit. I made sure everything lined up neatly, while I was cutting it out, but somewhere inbetween cutting and sewing something must have gone wrong and now the back bodice is slightly askew and the pattern of the skirt dips down. Well, hell, all of that is going on on the backside and as I don't see that area without having to bend like a contortionist, I couldn't care less!Okay and now I can't get this tune by Leslie Cleo out of my head;
