D Welcher Blogger kennt es nicht? Man will schöne Produktfotos machen, aber irgendwie fehlt ihnen das gewisse etwas. Dann schaut man sich auf anderen Blogs nach Inspiration um und denkt sich: diese anderen Blogger müssen einen Haufen Holzmöbel haben. Überall sieht man tolle Untergründe für Produkt- oder auch Foodfotografien und fragt sich, wo diese Blogger all die tollen Holzmöbel herbekommen. Ich habe die Antwort für euch und diese ist nicht: fahrt ins nächste Möbelhaus und kauft euch ein paar teure echtholz Tische und Kommoden. Und die Antwort ist auch nicht, sich irrsinnig teure Studiohinter- und Untergründe zu kaufen.
Heute möchte ich euch vier Low-Budget Möglichkeiten für bessere Blogfotos zeigen durch die Benutzung von Studiounter- und -hintergründen.
E I think every blogger knows this: you just want to take some nice product photos and that certain thing is missing. So you are looking at other blogs to get some inspiration and you are thinking: this bloggers must have a lot of wood furniture. Everywhere are this great wood undergrounds on product- or food pictures and you just want to know were the bloggers get all this wood furniture. I have an answer for you and it's not: drive to the next furniture shop and buy some real wood tables and dressers. And the answer also isn't to buy some expensive studio back- and undergrounds.
So today I want to show you four low budget possibilities to make better blog photos with using great under- and backgrounds.
D 1. PosterIn Bastelläden kann man unzählige tolle Sachen zum Fotografieren finden. Eines davon sind zum Beispiel Poster. Ich habe mir vor kurzem erst zwei Poster gekauft um mein Home Studio noch etwas aufzupeppen. Gekauft habe ich mir ein einfarbiges Poster in Dunkelrot und ein weiteres in Holzoptik. Das erste hat nur 90ct gekostet, das zweite ungefähr 2€.
Auf den ersten Blick, glaubt man vielleicht dieses Poster in Holzoptik müsse auf Bildern unheimlich unecht aussehen. Da der Untergrund allerdings nicht im Fokus liegt und schön verschwimmt, wie ihr auf dem Bild rechts sehen könnt, finde ich, dass sich das Poster sehr gut macht.
Das andere kann man als Unter- oder Hintergrund verwenden und das geht natürlich auch mit jeder anderen Farbe.
Im Bastelladen gibt es einige Schätze an Postern, die Fotos wirklich aufwerten können. Meine beiden habe ich bei idee gekauft, ein Laden den es eigentlich in fast jeder Stadt gibt. Auf einigen Blogs habe ich auch schon gelesen, dass sie diese Poster selbst drucken. Also einfach Bilder in Holzoptik als Poster, allerdings ist das glaube ich keine besonders billige Variante.

In Germany we have a lot of art supply stores and I think in other countries there might be some, too. Whatever in this art supply stores you can find a lot of great gadgets for photography. One of them are posters. Just recently I bought two posters for my home studio, a plain one in dark red and another one in natural wood look. For the first one I payed 90ct for the other one about 2€.
At first appearance you could think that the wood look poster looks pretty phony. But if you use it as an underground for pictures there isn't any focus on it and so it blurres and that's why it looks pretty good and authentic.
The other one can be used as an under- or background and you can also buy a lot of posters in different colors.
In different supply stores you can but a lot of great posters, I bought mine in the shop "idee" which is pretty common in Germany. On other blogs I also read, that the bloggers are printing posters by themselves. So they just use pictures in wood look and print them as posters, but I think that's not really a cheap variety.
D 2. Holzbretter
Außerdem gab es im Bastelladen oder auch im Baumarkt schöne Holzbretter. So müsst ihr euch nicht gleich einen ganzen Tisch kaufen, habt aber den gleichen Effekt zum kleineren Preis. Ich habe für ein Holzbrett 4€ gezahlt, es ist zwar auch nicht besonders groß, reicht zur Produktfotografie aber vollkommen aus. Außerdem ist es schön schlicht, so dass es das Foto nicht stört und dem Produkt auch nicht die Aufmerksamkeit nimmt.
E 2. Wooden boards
Another thing you can buy in art supply stores or building supply stores are pretty wooden boards. So you don't have to buy a whole table and you have the same effect for smaller money. I bought the wooden board on the pictures for 4€, it's not that big but enough for product photography. I like that it's plain, so it doesn't disturb the photo and the product still has the whole attention.
D 3. Glasplatten
Ich bin ein riesiger Fan von leichten Spiegelungen bei Produktfotos. Man könnte nun gleich einen Spiegel nehmen, da ist der Effekt aber doch recht stark. Also habe ich mir eine kleine Glasplatte zugelegt. Diese kombiniere ich einfach mit einem der anderen Untergründe und schon hat man noch schöne Spiegelungen im Bild.
Eine Glasplatte zu fotografieren ist übrigens gar kein so leichtes Unterfangen und daher gibt es an dieser Stelle gleich zwei Beispiel-Produktfotos.
E 3. Glass plates
I'm a huge fan of little reflections on product pictures. You could use a mirror for it, but I think the effect would be too much. So I bought a little glass plate. You can just combine it with one of the other undergrounds and than you have those little reflections in the picture.
By the way to photograph a glass plate isn't that easy. That's why I made two example product pictures instead of a picture of the glass plate. Well, I tried to photograph the glass plate but it just didn't work.
D 4. Andere Helfer
Ansonsten schaut euch doch einfach mal um, was ihr so zuhause habt. Ich benutze zum Beispiel oft einfach meinen Hocker auch als Untergrund. Genauso kann man es natürlich mit Tischen, Kommoden und so weiter machen. Ich würde mir allein für diesen Zweck zwar nichts neues kaufen, aber wir alle haben wohl ein paar Möbel zu hause, die sich, wenn man sie leer räumt, sicher toll zur Produktfotografie eignen. Dann könnt ihr natürlich als Hintergrund ein Poster verwenden oder mit Glück habt ihr ja eine schöne weiße Wand.

Apart from that just walk trough your house or flat and have a look what you got. For example I sometimes use my stool as a underground. But you can do the same with tables, dressers and stuff like that. I would never buy new furniture just to take photos on it, but we all have furniture at home and maybe one of them would be great for product photos. As a background you can easily use a poster or with some luck you also have white wall.
