Camden Street Art Tours invited me to come along to one of their tours exploring amazing street art around Camden. You don’t have to ask twice if I want to come along: I love exploring new sides of a neighborhood and I love art. So I took my photographer aka roomie Laura and my friend Marie and off we strolled. About two weeks ago we trotted to Camden ready to explore more than tourists usually do (Camden is not only Camden Market & the High Street)! The guided tours last about two hours and can be repeated several times since street art is fast living and changing. You might were on a tour a couple of months ago and when you join the tour another time be ready to see new art pieces all over the place. Having lived in Berlin for quiet some time and being used to see graffiti basically everywhere, I didn’t know what to expect – BUT I quickly learned street art and graffiti are two veeeeeery different things. For once, Street Art is not always illegal. Camden Street Art Tours is part of global street art who provide artists with surfaces to get arty on it! What we saw? We saw the tiniest of tiniest art piece on a chewing gum (yes, ladies and gentlemen, you read right!), we saw street art in 3D and we saw Alice’s last trip to wonderland. We met John Lennon once and Amy Winehouse crossed our paths every now and then being a former resident of Camden artists have a special relation to her. Rumors say that it’s a famous female person (maybeVictoria Beckham!) bringing Amy back to Camden. Next time you are in London, look up, look down, look straight ahead because everywhere you look there is some art wanting to be found. Vor einiger Zeit hat Camden Street Art Tours mich eingeladen an einer ihrer Touren durch Camden mitzumachen. Ich war sofort begeistert, denn ich liebe Kunst und ich liebe es neue Facetten einer Stadt zu erkunden. Also habe ich mir meine Fotografin aka Mitbewohnerin Laura und meine Freundin Marie gepackt und gemeinsam haben wir uns auf den Weg gemacht, Camden mal so richtig kennen zu lernen. Die meisten Touristen verbinden mit dem Stadtteil Camden den berühmten und ziemlich leckeren Camden Market und die High Street, aber es gibt noch so einiges mehr zu entdecken. Die geführten Touren dauern circa zwei Stunden und das tollste ist, man kann die Touren beliebig oft wiederholen, denn Street Art ist so unfassbar schnelllebig, dass immer wieder neue Kunstwerke auftauchen. Aber aufgepasst: Street Art und Graffiti sind zwei ziemlich unterschiedliche Sachen. Street Art ist (zum größten Teil) nicht illegal, denn Camden Street Art Tours gehört zu einer Vereinigung names Global Street Tours, die den Künstlern hilft, legale Oberflächen zu finden, auf denen sich die Künstler austoben können. Jetzt wollt ihr wissen, was wir gesehen haben? Wir haben das kleinste der kleinsten Kunstwerke auf einem alten Kaugummi entdeckt (oh jaa, auf einem Kaugummi!!), wir haben Kunst gesehen, die wie 3D wirkte und wir haben Alice’s letzten Ausflug ins Wunderland bestaunt. Wir haben John Lennon getroffen und auch Amy Winehouse sind wir einige Male über den Weg gelaufen. Amy hat fast ihr ganzes Leben in Camden gewohnt, weswegen sich einige lokale Künstler stark zu ihr verbunden fühlen. Es wird sogar gemunkelt, dass Victoria Beckham eine der Künstlerinnen sein könnte, die Amy Winehouse an die Wände von Camden zurückbringt! Wenn ihr das nächste Mal in London seid schaut nach unten, nach oben und gerade aus, denn überall versteckt sie Kunst, die nur darauf wartet von euch entdeckt zu werden!
