Schon früh hat Terri Lyne Carrington die höchsten Jazz-Weihen erhalten, beispielsweise von Herbie Hancock, Jack DeJohnette und Dianne Reeves, die an der Schlagzeugerin ihre ungemeine Brillanz und Vielseitigkeit bewunderten. Für die aus Boston stammende mehrfache Grammy-Gewinnerin war es immer auch wichtig, mit ihren Projekten politisch Flagge zu zeigen.
"Waiting Game", ihr Doppel-Debütalbum mit ihrer neuen Band Social Science regt zum Nachdenken an, ist künstlerisch provokant und musikalisch berauschend, ambitioniert und originell. Es propagiert soziale Gerechtigkeit, Integration und Mitgefühl. Ein vielseitiges Album, das Jazz, R'n'B, Indierock, zeitgenössische Improvisation und HipHop miteinander verschmelzt. Musikalisch unterstützt wurde sie dabei u.a. von Nicholas Payton, Rapsody, Meshell Ndegeocello, Maimouna Youssef und Esperanza Spalding.
