D Ich habe schon öfter von Fotografen gehört, die der Bildbearbeitung abschwören. Als Grund nennen sie meistens, dass Bildbearbeitung Schwindel sei und man die Realität nicht verändern soll. Ich sage dagegen: eine Kamera kann die Realität oft nicht so abbilden wie sie ist. Also finde ich es sinnvoll die Bildbearbeitung zu benutzen um das Foto der Realität näher zu bringen und gelegentlich darf man auch mal tricksen. Dabei muss man aber einiges beachten. Dafür habe ich mal eine kleine aber feine Liste mit Bildbearbeitungs "Do and Don't" zusammengestellt, also was ich als sinnvoll ansehe und was nicht.
E I often heard about photographers that doesn't do image editing. Their reason is that they don't want to change the reality. I think that my camera can't image the reality as it is and so I have to use image editing to make them more like the reality and sometimes to fiddle a little bit. But there are a lot of things you have to consider. Thats why I made a "Do and Don't" list for what I think is useful in image editing and what isn't.
D Do:
* Den Kontrast erhöhen. Unsere Umwelt ist - in meinen Augen - ziemlich kontrastreich, das frisch geschossene Foto hat oft nicht halb so viel Kontrast wie die Realität selbst.
* Farben anpassen. Mir ist aufgefallen, dass meine Kamera manche Farben, wie zum Beispiel Rot, nicht besonders gut abbilden kann. Auch hier liegt es an der Bildbearbeitung die natürlichen Farben wieder zurückzuholen.
* Dodge and Burn - was auf deutsch soviel bedeutet wie Abwedeln und Nachbelichten. Diese Bildbearbeitung ist für mich bei der Portraitfotografie ein absolutes muss: die Schatten im Gesicht zurückgeben. Darüber werde ich in Kürze noch ein Tutorial schreiben.
* Hautunreinheiten korrigieren. Wer kennt es nicht, wochenlang kein einziger Pickel und dann will man Fotos machen und sieht plötzlich aus wie ein Streuselkuchen. Auch dafür ist Bildbearbeitung da.
* Nachschärfen. Wir alle wissen, dass die Realität scharf ist, auch ein richtig fokussiertes und scharfgestelltes Bild kann man noch etwas nachschärfen, kann ja nicht schaden.
* Graustufen. Schwarz-weiß Bearbeitung bringt manchen Bildern erst den endgültigen Touch, ohne Graustufen hätten sie vielleicht nicht so viel Aussagekraft.
E Do:
* Increase contrast. Our surrounding world is pretty contrasty in my eyes, but a recent taken picture most of the time isn't so bring back the contrast in your pictures.
* Adjust colors. My camera often just can't picture colors as they are, for example red. So I use image editing to bring back the real and natural color.
* Dodge and Burn is a real "must" for me in portrait photography: you have to bring back the shadows in your models face. Soon I will present you a dodge and burn tutorial on this blog.
* Correct skin blemishes. Who doesn't know that moment? For weeks you didn't have any pimple and than you want to take some photos and you look like a crumb cake. That's also a point were image editing is pretty useful.
* Resharpening. The reality is pretty sharp and you can resharpen your pictures even if they are already sharp it isn't hurt.
* Greyscale. Black and white image editing can give photos the final touch, without greyscale they are sometimes not that meaningful.
D Don't:* Jegliche Art von dünner und dicker machen finde ich nicht angebracht. Jeder Mensch ist so schön wie er ist, dafür muss man keinen Photoshop Verflüssigen Filter benutzen um dünnere Beine und größere Brüste zu haben.* Es übertreiben. Sättigung, Kontrast und all die andern genannten Do's sind alles schön und gut, solange man es nicht übertreibt. Das Ziel ist einen schönen Mittelweg zu finden zwischen nicht bearbeiten und zu viel bearbeiten.
E Don't: * I think every way of making people skinnier or thicker just isn't appropriate. Every person is pretty the way they are, you don't need to use a photoshop Liquify filter to make their legs skinnier and their breasts bigger.
* Overdo. Saturation, Contrast and all the other mentioned Do's are great things but you need to find a middle way and don't edit to much.

Manchmal kann Photoshop aus einem von mir miserabel geschossenen Bild noch ein Meisterwerk machen und gelegentlich auch mal die Realität verfälschen. Aber das alles versuche ich nur in Maßen und nicht in Massen zu genießen. Als kleinen Abschluss werde ich noch eine kleine Beichte ablegen, in dem ich euch jenes Bild dass auf diesem Blog veröffentlicht wurde zeige, bei dem ich am aller meisten getrickst habe. Ja es sind in der Tat zwei Menschen von diesem Bild verschwunden. Und dann wäre da noch die Frage: Was haltet ihr von Bildbearbeitung? Bearbeitet ihr viel? Was sind eure "Do & Don'ts"?
