Heute schreibe ich mal etwas Trauriges. Mein Freund Daniel, der in Phan Thiet lebt und arbeitet, hat mir vor kurzem berichtet, dass ein 14jähriges Mädchen schwer krank ist und dringend ins Krankenhaus muss. Es gibt in Vietnam keine Krankenversicherung – zumindest nicht für den Normalsterblichen. Und Sron, so der Name des Mädchens, gehört einer ethnischen Minderheit an, den Co Ho. Die gehören in Vietnam zu den Ärmsten der Armen.
Die Kosten für eine Behandlung belaufen sich auf um die 3000 Dollar, also ungefähr 2500 Euro. Das ist in Vietnam ein Einkommen, das viele nicht einmal in zwei bis vier Jahren bekommen. Im Vergleich: Mein Freund muss für 2500 Euro 100 Monate arbeiten gehen, also auch vier Jahre! Die meisten Ethnien haben überhaupt kein Einkommen. Manche arbeiten für 100 000 Dong, also 4 Euro im Monat.
Krankenversorgung ist in Vietnam ein gewaltiges, soziales Problem. Selbst für mich als Ausländer heißt es nur, gesund bleiben. Kleinere Verletzungen sind meist kein Problem. Sollte mir hier irgendetwas ernstes (Herzinfarkt oder Verkehrsunfall) zustoßen, kann man sicher sein, dass es dann vorbei ist. In anderen Fällen kann ich noch ins Krankenhaus nach Bangkok. Natürlich ist die medizinische Versorgung in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An und auch in Ha Noi bestens. Aber sie ist eben für gravierende Fälle nicht ausgereift.
Daniel und andere aus Mui Ne haben der Familie schon geholfen. Sie haben es ermöglicht, dass Sron in Phan Thiet ins Krankenhaus gekommen ist. Aber sie benötigt mehr Behandlungen. Die Ärzte sagen, in etwa 3000 Dollar wird es kosten. Das ist für Daniel einfach zu viel. Er ist deswegen sehr mitgenommen und sucht nun Leute, die nicht nur helfen können, sondern auch gewillt sind, dies zu tun.
Ich schreibe den Post mit dem Link zu Daniels Blog. Ich kann für Daniel garantieren, dass es kein Schwindel ist. Er sucht auch niemanden, der ihm viel Geld leiht oder gibt. Es geht um die Kosten für die Behandlung von Sron. Ohne diese wird das kleine Mädchen sterben.

Today something sad. My friend Daniel, living and working in Phan Thiet, told me that he met a 14year old girl in the hinterland. This girl is severely sick and the parents cannot afford the fee for the hospital. It is too much for them. An insurance does not exist for the poor. Sron, so the girl’s name, belongs to the ethnic minority of Co Ho. These ethnics belong to the poorest of the poor in Vietnam.
The fee for the treatment is around 3000 Dollar (around 2500 Euro). This is an amount which most Vietnamese do not have in two to four years, e.g. my boyfriend has to work 100 months to get 3000 Dollar. And most of the ethnic people do not have an income. Some work for only 100 000 Dong, that is 5 Dollar or 4 Euro in a month!
Hospitalization is a big social problem. Even for me as foreigner. It means: stay healthy. Small injuries are no problem. But should happen something severe like an accident or heart attack, I am sure, it will be the end. In other cases I can fly out to Bangkok. Sure, there are many good hospitals in HCM, Da Nang, Hoi An and Ha Noi. But for severe cases these are not really evolved.
Daniel already helped this family. He and other spend some money to get her into the hospital in Phan Thiet. There she lies now, but she needs more treatments. All costs are around 3000 Dollars, the doctors say. For one person, this is really too much. Daniel is very sad in the moment and tries to reach people who can and are willing to help.
I write this post with the link to Daniel’s blog. I can guarantee for him, it is no scam. He is not looking for someone giving him much money, he looks for many people who can spend some money for this family to ensure the health of little Sron. Without it this girl will die soon.
