Many believers and people who cling to tradition celebrate Easter.
I remember that we have always celebrated Easter. Especially my grandmother. Unfortunately I have no pictures of her self painted Easter eggs but they were all small works of art in itself. She has only dipped in color or leave white and painted it in hours of work neatly from just a few inches away with a black thin filigree line. The effort and time - not a matter for my grandma, they should be just fine and look decent. As a child, I have not dared to touch them, so beautiful they were. And how happymy grandma was when everyone who came in to visit us admired a long time her great Easter eggs.
I love tradition and hold on to her, however, for me it is actually only a couple of extra free days because I belong to no religion, and was not even baptized. When I came into the world (and almost 2 years before my brother) my parents have decided not to emulate all the family and friends- and acquaintances and baptized us as babies. They wanted to leave this decision up to ourselves when and which religion we want to join. Neither my brother nor I have yet found a religion.
Auch ich halte an der Tradition fest, doch sind es für mich eigentlich nur eine paar zusätzliche freie Tage, denn ich gehöre keiner Religion an und wurde nicht mal getauft. Als ich auf die Welt kam (und fast 2 Jahre davor mein Bruder) haben meine Eltern beschlossen, es nicht all den Familienangehörigen und Freunden- und Bekannten gleichzutun und und als Babys taufen zu lassen. Sie wollten es uns selbst überlassen wann und welcher Religion wir uns anschließen wollen. Weder mein Bruder noch ich haben bis heute eine Religion gefunden.
In this way many people "celebrate", but what does Easter mean anyway?
I saw yesterday on TV a street survey and it was terrifying. Quite a few people who belong to a religion knew what Eastern means, even worse, many came along with facts from the Christmas customs.
I, as an atheist, should not really have to worry about it, but universal education can not hurt and it's always good to know what and why something is happening around you :)

Ich habe erst gestern im TV eine Straßenumfrage gesehen und es war erschreckend. Ganz wenige der Menschen die einer Religion angehören wußten das, schlimmer noch, viele kamen da mit Fakten aus den Weihnachtfeiertagen.Ich als Atheist müsste mich eigentlich gar nicht darum kümmern, doch eine fundierte Allgemeinbildung kann ja nicht schaden und es ist immer gut zu wissen was und warum etwas um einen herum passiert :)

Jesus ate on the eve of his death the last time with his disciples. This was the famous "Last Supper". He told his disciples that it is intentional that he dies and is not a coincidence. Why Thursday's just called "Maundry" is not known.

An diesem Tag, am Vorabend seines Todes, hat Jesusnoch ein letztes Mal mit seinen Jüngern zu Abend gegessen. Das war das berühmte "Letzte Abendmahl". Hier erklärte er seinen Jüngern, dass es gewollt ist, dass er stirbt und kein Zufall sei. Warum er ausgerechnet "Grün"-Donnerstag heißt ist nicht bekannt.Friday

This Friday, also called "Kar"-Friday in Germany and the day of death (crucifixion) of Jesus. The word "Kar" comes from the old-german word "chara" or "kara" which means sorrow, sadness, worry, complain. Es werden im Freien Feuer und Osterkerzen angezündet. Diese stehen sinnbildlich für den auferstandenen Jesus. Die Osternacht ist die Nacht an der das Leiden und der Tod überwunden ist. The (Bible) says that on the 3rd day after the crucifixion of Jesus two disciples left Jerusalem and have made their way to Emmaus, a small village near Jerusalem. On this way a third unidentified man joins them. In Emmaus arrived, they invite him to dinner. He breaks the bread as he sat at the table and the disciples recognize him as the resurrected Jesus Christ, but then he disappears in front of their eyes. They immediately return to Jerusalem and tell all the disciples of this experience. Die Bibel besagt, dass am 3. Tag nach der Kreuzigung Jesu zwei Jünger Jerusalem verlassen haben und sich auf den Weg nach Emmaus gemacht haben. Ein kleines Dorf in der Nähe von Jerusalem. Auf diesem Weg schließt sich ihnen ein dritter unbekannter Mann an. In Emmaus angekommen laden sie ihn zum Essen ein. Dieser bricht am Tisch das Brot und die Jünger erkennen in ihm den auferstandenen Jesus Christus, der dann aber vor ihren Augen verschwindet. Sie kehren sofort nach Jerusalem zurück und erzählen allen Jüngern von diesem Erlebnis. Zu Ehren dieser Reise nach Emmaus findet heute beispielsweise der Osterspaziergang von der Pfarrkirche zur Kapelle statt.Diese Reise könnt ihr in der Bibel nachlesen - Lukas Kapitel 24.
