Eat: Da uns das thailaendische Essen sehr wohl bekommt, konnten wir nicht widerstehen, einen Kochkurs zu buchen. Der Lehrmeister nahm uns mit auf den Markt, wo er uns erklaerte, wo man welche Zutaten herkriegt. Natuerlich kamen wir auch an allerlei Kuriositaeten vorbei wie die fermentierten, rosanen Eier, Gurken so gross wie Kuerbisse und weitere Lustige Sachen dies bei uns definitiv nicht gibt. Nach 5h kochen waren wir Meister der thailaendischen Kueche und zauberten von Nudelgerichten ueber gruenes und rotes Curry bis zu suessen Bananen die nach Apfel schmeckten. Tolles Erlebniss!
Eat: Since the thai kitchen impressed us a lot we could'nt resist to sign up for a cooking class. Our master took us the local market to explain everything about what we need and where to get it. We also passed by some curiosities like fermented, link eggs, gurkens as big as pumkins and further specialities we will definitely not get at home. After 5h of hard work we ended up having done from noodles dishes, soups to green and red curry to sweet bananas that actually tasted like apple. Great experience!
Pray: Chiang Mai ist wie jede thailaendische Stadt voll mit Tempeln. Wir besuchten dieses mal einen der etwas mehr ausserhab auf einem Huegel errichtet wurde. Nicht weit davon befindet sich auch die Winter-residenz des Koenigs welche wir ebenfalls bestaunten. Eine riesige Treppe deren Gelaender von zwei Drachen gebildet wird fuehrt hinauf zum Tempel. Die Show von Taenzerinen und Schlangenmenschen war wohl eher fuers Militaer gedacht das ebenfalls zu Besuch war. Egal. Der Nebel der spaeter noch aufzog verleihte dem ganzen noch eine spezielle Stimmung.
Pray: Like every other thai city, Chiang Mai also hosts a lot of temples. This time, we visited one a bit more outside of town which was built on a hill. Just few kilometers further up is the royal winter residency of the king of thailand into which we also had a quick look.Huge stairs of which the sides are formed by two dragons, lead us up to the temple. The performance of dancers and contortionists was probably just shown because of the military who was also visiting but who cares. It was great anyway. After some time, the fog caused a special atmosphere to the whole compund.
Fight: Das "Muay Thai", das sogenannte Thaiboxen ist hierzulande Volksport wie das Schwingen in der Schweiz. Es geht hier allerding etwas pfiffiger zur Sache. Wir haben einige Kaempfe in einem verruchten Hinterhof Chiang Mais mitverfolgt. Unter dem Publikum waren Alte und Junge, Prostituirte und Zuhaelter sowie Thais und Touristen. Bei 6 von 7 Kaempfen wurde der Sieger durch K.O. bestimmt. Die Stimmung wurde besonders aufgeheizt als ein Spanier und ein Neuseelaender je gegen einen Thai boxten. Es wurden auch zwei Frauen in den Ring geschickt und als Pausenunterhaltung pruegelten sich vier Typen die mit verbunden Augen auf sich gegenseitig eindroschen. Was fuer ein Abend in Chiang Mai.
Fight: The "Muay Thai", the so called thai boxing seems to be the national sport like "Schwingen" is in Switzerland just that this here is much more "spicy". We attended a few fights in a dogdy backyard in Chiang Mai. The visitors blend consisted out of old and young, prostitutes and pimps as well as thais and tourists. In 6 out of 7 fights, the winner was determined via K.O. The atmosphere really heated up when a spaniard and a kiwi each boxed against a local thai fighter. Also women were sent to the ring and for the amusement during the breack, four guys with covered eyes were hitting each other randomly in the face. What an evening out in Chiang Mai.
