Ear Candy: Penguin Prison

Von Blaumachenblog

Sorry Mr. Penguin Prison. I had no idea.

Do you remember when you were younger and you actually started to listen to music, which wasn't only from the radio or TV? When your friends showed you something totally mindblowing and you started to think that this would be your only favourite musician forever?Nowadays it's a little bit different: Just like or link them, but mostly they (your friends) will ignore it.I don't want to only like something, because I know that people will oversee it. Instead I'll introduce you to nice music as if I were your friend. Only that you might be a total stranger to me, but beside that: Make yourself comfortable!Although I already did something like this in past blogs I want to try a different concept. If there's anything you don't like or if you have a recommendation, don't worry just comment. I will surely read it, because the quantity of my comments ain't that much yet!
Let's just start by telling you that I "get" my music from many different sources. Some are from German music magazines like unclesally's, intro or any magazine that I put my hand on. And on the other side friends and acquaintances are a big source as well. But the most important source for me personally comes from the internet and there are certain pages that I regularly stop by. To keep it short, this time I'll name just a few: Hype Machine, Last Fm, The Prophet Blog, tape.tv, youtube and tons of other blogs and websites.
It sounds stupid to name youtube, but mostly you get to good music coincidentally. At first you click at one video and then you get to another one which matches your taste, something like that can happen easily.
And last but not least everything that surrounds you - the concerts at your city, advertisement posters and brochures you find at culture centres.
If you're still reading than you're either a friend of mine who reads it out of pity or you're a very patient and kind person. But no matter what or who you are, I will start with my actual task.
Penguin Prison stands for good music, I mean the music is like a nice piece of clothes that you can wear everywhere and anytime you want. His music is some fine electric pop.
The high and smooth voice protudes and is not drowned by the sound of the slightly crowded trappings.
In addition, this voice has something Justin Timberlakish.
I would say that people who listen to Two Door Cinema Club, Justin Timberlake?, The New Wine, William Fitzsimmons might like PP, too? But that's the matter of taste and sure subjective.
The songs that I present you are "Something I'm Not", "Golden Train" and "Don't Fuck With My Money". I attached "Something I'm Not" as a video because of the visuality, compared to his other songs a less funky song, which has its' own charm because of the tension which is increasing bit by bit.
While listening to "Golden Train" I can do nothing but nod to the beat and just seconds later I end up dancing. And "Don't Fuck With My Money" is wicked, it's a effing good statement and outlines the occupy movement pretty nice.
