Seide ist offenbar ein Material, mit dem man nicht nur feinste Textilien, sondern auch bemerkenswerte Installationen herstellen kann. Oder hättet ihr gedacht, dass sich aus diesen transparenten Fasern solch faszinierende Mikrokosmen fertigen lassen? Zu ballonartigen Formen geballt, sehen sie aus wie organische Gewächse, schwerelose Quallen oder wie luftig leichte Pastellgeschwüre, die sich an Hauswänden und in Raumecken ausbreiten. Diesen anderen Blick auf das kostbare Gewebe aus den Kokons der Seidenraupe verdanken wir Lisa Kellner. Die amerikanische Künstlerin verwendet in ihren Arbeiten bewusst das Luxusprodukt Seide und setzt es in Kontrast zu Assoziation von Virenbefall und Zersetzung. Seine feste Struktur verweist dabei durch ihre Ähnlichkeit zu Zellstrukturen, Brustimplantaten oder roten Blutkörperchen auch direkt auf den menschlichen Körper. Dadurch bleibt bei all der eigenwilligen Schönheit, die diese Gebilde ausstrahlen, stets ein beunruhigender Beigeschmack zurück.
