Chatuchak Market Bangkok is the largest weekend market in the world with over 300k visitors per day – located near Mo-Chit BTS Skytrain station and offering you household items, clothing, collectibles, cellphone items and cases, foods and also live animals.
The first opening of the market was at the end of the 1940s and it grows immediately. With more than 10,000 stables and 27 areas on 1.1 square kilometers (270acres) Chatuchak Market is the largest in the world and you can believe me, really crowded on the weekend.
For me it was quite interesting to see all the different food and restaurants, the special Thai ice-cream or fresh made drinks and on the opposite site all “brand new” fashion from labels all around the world for just 5 US$

If you want to go to Chatuchak market, you should go there early in the morning and be prepared that the humidity is really high (no air-condition) and the temperatures are also high. Think about, what items you really need, to go to the market and keep attention to the warning in every stable!
But to do it once in a lifetime, it is an interesting place, great for spending a Saturday or Sunday morning in Bangkok. One problem I have to talk about it, was the already by PETA flagged section with young dog puppies and other animals. If you also like animals, there might be an area you better don’t go (that is also the reason why I don’t show you pics of this area)
Chatuchak Market ist der weltgrößte Wochenmarkt in Bangkok mit über 300.000 Besuchern pro Tag – nahe der Mo-Chit BTS Skytrain Station. Ihr findet dort verschiedene Haushaltsgegenstände, Kleidung, Sammelstücke, Handy-Artikel und Hüllen, Essen und lebende Tiere.
Der erste Chatuchak Market fand Ende 40er Jahre statt und wuchs in den nächsten Jahren bereits auf eine stattliche Größe. Mit nun mehr als 10.000 Ständen und Geschäften in 27 Kategorien auf über 1,1 Quadratkilometern ist der Markt nicht nur unglaublich groß, sondern auch wahnsinnig gut besucht und eng!
Für mich war es besonders interessant, die verschiedenen Essenstände und “Restaurants” zu sehen, die besondere Thai-Eiscreme, sowie die frisch produzierten Getränke und Säfte. Auf der anderen Seiten gab es natürlich “fabrikneue” Designer-Labels aus der ganzen Welt für nur 5 US$ 
… Für alle von Euch, die auch Möbel oder Sammlerstücke suchen und nicht direkt in den Koffer bekommen, gibt es natürlich auch verschiedene Versandmöglichkeiten.
Wenn Ihr den Chatuchak Market besuchen möchtet, solltet Ihr am frühen Morgen bereits hinfahren, da die Luftfeuchtigkeit und Temperatur über den Tag extrem wird. Denkt daran, nur die Artikel mitzunehmen, die Ihr unbedingt braucht und beachtet die verschiedenen Warnschilder in den engen Gängen (Langfinger!)
Um es einmal im Leben zu machen, ist es ein besonderer Ort, für einen Samstag- oder Sonntagvormittag in Bangkok. Ein Problem muss ich noch ansprechen, da dieses auch bereits von PETA markiert und angezeigt wurde – das Gebiet mit jungen Tierbabies, kleinen Hunden, Katzen, etc. – wenn Ihr auch eine große Tierliebe habt, solltet Ihr diesen Bereich besser meiden (ich werde euch daher auch nicht die Bilder aus diesen Gängen zeigen)
