D Im August habe ich 5 Tage mit meinem Freund im wundervollen Amsterdam verbracht. Natürlich habe ich euch ein paar Bilder mitgebracht, aber bei dieser Reise würde ich auch gern einen kleinen Artikel über die Stadt und was wir dort so erlebt haben schreiben.
An einem Samstag sind wir mit der Bahn aus dem verregneten Hamburg nach Amsterdam gestartet. Dort hatten wir bereits über Wimdu eine Unterkunft gebucht. Unsere Gastgeber hatten nur positive Bewertungen und wir waren guter Dinge. Inzwischen gibt es eine negative Bewertung in ihrer Statistik: Meine. Es war mein erstes Mal bei einem solchen Homestay und ich hatte das einfach etwas anders erwartet. Wir hatten ein sehr schönes Zimmer und unser Gastgeber bat uns nicht zu laut zu sein. Alles schön und gut, bis wir am Morgen unseres zweiten Tages durch lautstarkes Gebrüll geweckt wurden. Von da an stritten sich unsere Gastgeber nur noch und zwar so laut und aggressiv, dass wir uns während der Streits nicht aus dem Zimmer getraut haben. Und das obwohl die beiden wussten, dass wir - und noch zwei andere Gäste in einem anderen Zimmer - da sind.
Da wir nicht all zu viel in der Unterkunft waren, war das okay, es hat sich aber unangenehm durch den Urlaub gezogen. Vor allem weil sie auf englisch stritten und obwohl es uns nichts anging haben wir jedes Wort verstanden.
Nun aber zu erfreulicheren Dingen: die Stadt ist einfach wunderschön. Überall Wasser und tolle Gebäude. Man konnte einfach stundenlang durch die Stadt laufen und sich ihrer Schönheit erfreuen. So haben wir auch das meiste erkundet: zu Fuß. Mit der Hilfe eines Reiseführers und einer Karte ging das ganz leicht und hat natürlich eine Menge Geld gespart.

On a rainy Saturday we left Hamburg with the train to Amsterdam, where we already booked a housing through Wimdu. Our hosts only had good feedbacks on their page and so we were thinking positive. Now they have one negative feedback: mine. It was the first time I booked such a homestay and I really expected it a little different. So we had a really nice room and our host asked us to not be loud. No problem for us, but at our second day we got aroused by loud yelling. From this day till the end of our vacation our hosts argued pretty loud and aggressive and while they were screaming we just didn't had the courage to leave the room. They both knew that we were there - and also two other guests in another room.
We didn't spent much time at our housing and so it was okay, but it was just a little bit unpleasant. Also because they were talking english and so we understood every word, but it wasn't our business and we didn't wanted to understand it.
Well, let's talk about more positive things: The city is just beautiful. Everywhere water and nice buildings and we could just wander hours through the city and just be happy about it's beauty. And that's how we saw the most: walking. With the help of a guidebook and a map that was pretty easy and we saved a lot of money.
D An den ersten 2 vollen Tagen hatten wir noch nicht so gutes Wetter und haben uns daher für Museumsbesuche entschieden. Im Reiseführer haben wir prompt zwei tolle Fotografie Museen entdeckt, das Huis Marseille und das Foam Museum.
In ersterem gab es gerade eine Ausstellung von Stephen Shore, welchen ich vorher noch nicht kannte. Hier fand ich auch die Location sehr viel interessanter als die eigentliche Ausstellung, das Museum befand sich nämlich in einem - bzw. zwei verbundenen - typischen Grachtenhaus. Das hieß viele Treppen, wundervolle Räume und einen schönen Garten im Hinterhof. Die Ausstellung an sich war ok, allerdings fand ich die Bilder nicht besonders inspirierend. Ich fand, dass sie vor allem Schnappschüssen ähnelten.
Im zweiten Museum, dem Foam Museum war gerade eine Ausstellung von Helmut Newton. Einem relativ bekannten Fotografen von dem ich auch vorher schonmal gehört hatte. Die Ausstellung war einfach toll und auch sehr inspirierend. Sie hat mir vor allem sehr Lust auf schwarz-weiß Fotografie gemacht. In dem Museum fand ich allerdings das Personal, zum Beispiel an der Kasse, sehr unfreundlich und im dazugehörigen Café wurden wir vom Kellner über 20 Minuten ignoriert - obwohl dort nicht besonders viel los war - bis wir dann einfach gegangen sind.

In the first one there was an exhibition by Stephen Shore, I never heard about him before. I really liked the location, the museum is in a typical canal house. So there were a lot of stairs, beautiful rooms and a nice garden in the backyard. The exhibition itself was okay, but not really inspiring for me. I thought that the pictures mostly looked like snapshots.
In the second Museum, the Foam, was an exhibition by Helmut Newton. Who's a pretty popular photograph and I already heard about him before. The exhibition was really nice and inspiring, especially I really want to take more black and white pictures now. The only thing about this museum was, that the staff was pretty unfriendly and in the appropriate cafe we got ignored about 20 minutes - there weren't even so many people - until we just left.
D An einem wärmeren aber nicht zu sonnigen Tag haben wir eine Grachtenrundfahrt gemacht. Dort bekommt man viele interessante Informationen und man sieht nochmal mehr von der Stadt. Und vor allem aus einem anderen Blickwinkel. Die Rundfahrt ging rund eine Stunde und hat sich sehr gelohnt. Weil das Wetter nicht perfekt war war das Boot auch angenehm leer und man wurde nicht von der Sonne gegrillt.
Im Reiseführer haben wir außerdem ein paar interessante Brauereien entdeckt die wir dann besucht haben, das waren die Bierfabriek und die Brouwerij 't IJ. Bei der ersten gibt es sehr leckeres Essen und die andere hat eine unschlagbare Location in einer Windmühle. Das war also sehr lohnenswert, zumal das Bier auch lecker ist.
Ansonsten haben wir sehr viel einfach zu Fuß erkundet ohne wirklichen Plan. So findet man schnell den Grachtengürtel, das Rotlichtviertel, den Paleis op de Dam, und viele andere interessante Orte. Auch den Bloemenmarkt haben wir natürlich besucht.
E On one not to hot but sunny day we made a canal cruise with a boat. There you get some really interesting informations and see a lot from the city, especially from another point of view. The tour was about one hour and was really worth the money. Because the weather wasn't perfect the boat wasn't too full with people and we didn't get grilled by the sun.
In the guidebook we also found some interesting breweries that we visited: the Bierfabriek and the Brouwerij 't IJ. At the first one we got great food and the second one had an awesome location: a windmill. Well, they also had pretty good beer.
Apart from that we saw a lot of things while just walking around without a real plan. So we saw the ring of canals, the red light district, the Paleis op de Dam, and a lot of other interesting places. Of course we also visited the Bloemenmarkt, which is a big flower market.
D Ein weiteres Highlight des Städtetrips war ein spontanes Bloggertreffen mit Ricardo, einem anderen Fotografieblogger, der für mich auch schonmal einen Gastpost verfasst hat - diesen findest du hier. Lustigerweise ist das Treffen nur durch die Instagram Story entstanden, auf der ich öfter mal Amsterdam Bilder gepostet habe. Ricardo war nämlich auch ein paar Tage in Amsterdam im Urlaub und hat mich dann auf die Story hin angeschrieben. Lustige Zufälle durch Social Media oder?
Wir waren dann zu dritt in einem Café und im Anschluss gab es noch ein Fotoshooting. Hiermit habe ich die professionellsten Touristenfotos ever. Ein großes Dankschön hierfür nochmal an Ricardo!
E Another highlight of our city trip was a spontaneous blogger meeting with Ricardo, another photography blogger, that already wrote a nice guestpost for me - you can find it here. The funny thing was, that the meeting just came about because if the Instagram Story. I often posted some Amsterdam pictures and Ricardo saw it and was incidentally also in Amsterdam for some days. Nice incident through social media, isn't it?
We met for some coffee and after that we had a little photo shooting. Now I might have the most professional tourist pictures ever. A big thank you to Ricardo for that!
D Auf der Rückfahrt hatten wir dann eine kleine Odyssee mit der deutschen Bahn. Diese ist ja inzwischen allseits bekannt für den Mist den sie ständig verzapfen und ich blieb mal wieder nicht verschont davon. Wir standen also guter Dinge in Amsterdam am Hauptbahnhof und wollten einfach nur heimfahren, bis irgendetwas auf Holländisch hinter der Nummer unseres Zuges stand. Es stellte sich dann heraus das das soviel hieß wie "Der Zug fährt nicht." Aus diesem Satz entstand die nervigste Reise meines Lebens: 3x umsteigen und am Ende eine Verspätung von über 2 Stunden sowie mehreren ewig langen Aufenthalten mitten im Nirgendwo an völlig unbekannten Bahnhöfen in einem fremden Land. Zu allem Überfluss ging dann noch in einer der gefühlt hundert Bahnen die Klimaanlage nicht und draußen war es richtig heiß. Thank you for traveling with Deutsche Bahn, kann man dazu nur noch sagen.
Alles in allem war es ein toller Urlaub, auch wenn ich das nächste mal wohl doch eher ein Hotel nehmen würde und auf die Deutsche Bahn ist sowieso kein Verlass. Nach Amsterdam würde ich jederzeit wieder fahren, die Stadt ist einfach wunderschön und mir hat es sehr gefallen, dass sie so alternativ ist. Eine schöne Stadt für junge Leute könnte man sagen. Außerdem gab es dort zahlreiche Vintage Läden, wovon ich sowieso ein riesen Fan bin.
Das hier war jetzt natürlich ein ziemlicher Touri Post, mit ziemlichen Touri Bildern. Ein paar hochwertigere Bilder folgen dann in Kürze.

E On our way back we had a huge odyssey with the german train. They are already known for the silly things they always do and I didn't get spared this time. So we were at Amsterdam Centraal ready for our ride home when there was something dutch written behind our train number. It turned out that it meant "The train isn't coming". With this sentence the most annoying journey of my life started: 3 times changing trains, sitting in the middle of nowhere and doesn't now where I am and a delay of over 2 hours. And in one of the trains the air conditioning wasn't working and it was just so hot outside.
Altogether it was a great vacation, next time I would maybe choose a hotel and maybe something else then the train. But I would always visit Amsterdam again, the city is just so beautiful and I really liked that it's so alternative, a nice city for young people. And also there were so many vintage shops, what I really love.
So that was pretty much a tourist post with tourist pictures. Some better pictures will follow in a short while in another blogpost.
