Jason Douglas Newman aka Brother Ali ist ein in den USA geborener, nahezu blinder Albino, der im Alter von 15 Jahren zum Islam konvertierte. Für seine persönlichen, inspirierenden und selbstbewussten Texte erntet der Rapper aus Minneapolis immer wieder euphorisches Kritikerlob.
Sein neuestes Werk hört auf den Titel „All The Beauty In This Whole Life“ und umfasst 15 Tracks.
Mit seinen kritischen Texten trifft Brother Ali wieder den Nerv der Zeit und versucht eine gespaltene Nation durch Musik wieder ein Stück näher zusammen zu bringen.

Auf dem Album erkundet Brother Ali seine Wurzeln als Rapper und Moslem („Pen to Paper“),
spricht über seine Probleme als Albino („Pray for Me“) und
den Verlust des Vaters und Großvaters, die beide Selbstmord begingen („Out of Here“).
Dazu kommen scharfe politische und gesellschaftskritische Kommentare, wenn er etwa auf geschickte Art und Weise den Einfluss moderner Technologie auf unsere persönlichen Kontakte behandelt („Special Effects“), den Einfluss von Pornografie auf die Gesellschaft untersucht („The Bitten Apple“), das Konstrukt der Rasse bespricht („Before They Called You White“) oder Polizeibrutalität geißelt („Dear Black Son“).
„All The Beauty In This Whole Life“ ist nun die sechste und jüngste Veröffentlichung, mit der Brother Ali im November erneut nach Deutschland kommt.
