Five sure-fire tips to get yourself into the dhyana-mode, which means contemplation:
1) Don't believe it must be sitting meditation. Never in the palicanon is dhyana attached to sitting (the "za" in zazen).
2) Don't believe there must be a cushion. The Shakyamuni Buddha didn't have one, so why do you?
3) If you really think you should do zazen, remember the "results" or "goals" that Yasutani Roshi mentioned: concentration (jôriki), satori-awakening (kenshô-godô) und realization in daily life (mujôdô-no taigen). Don't expect less than you can expect.
4) Don't make contemplation a separate part of your life - just stay openly aware of what is going on around you, if you stand, sit, walk, lie down or shit.
5) Don't worry about waking-up. You will awake just at the right time!
