Before I start, it was advertised to be similar to the twilight-books, and it's true. Sometimes I think, the story in their manifest is the same, just more ... for adults. Grown up. Sincere.
I loved history as a subject in school and I was glad to read, that she was an historian (Diana). But at one point there was too much history, sometimes I just wanted to scream "Shut up, we get it. You love old, dusty books. That's okay but I don't have to know that every ten seconds!"
Also, Matthew (Vampire) ... he's a scientist and after nearly twenty pages of DNA-explanations I got bored. You could easily say what you want to say without talking just "biology".
But despite this rather annoying flaws I enjoyed the book. The characters have their flaws, of course, as everyone does, but they evelope. I was so relieved that there is no nerve-racking love triangle, because I'm always afraid the girl chooses the wrong one. But really, love triangles are just overused.
EDIT: DANGEROUS: This Book is turning you into an addict, for sure! I've currently finished the third book ... I've read the three in a row without hesitating. They're great. No more doubts!
What is quite confusing: There are so many new characters introduced (not so much in the first book, but I'm currently reading the sequel. Oh, lord, I've already given up.) I'm struggling to keep up. Nevermind, the story is worth it. I'm not really sure why this book is making me stay awake as long as I can to read but if this is the case it has to be good.
It is a book I would recommend to everyone with a love for Witches, Vampires and Romance (and if you have some interest in history as well you'll be pleased).
However, this book is more suited for "Grown Up"- Teens. If you're thirteen or fourteen (or less) I would wait some time. I'm 19 and I liked it but it's always difficult to connect with main characters if they're more than 10 years older than you.

Ich glaube, erst Anfang dieses Monats ist der letzte Teil dieser Reihe in Deutschland herausgekommen. Wie immer, alles was ich sage ist natürlich absolut subjektiv, weil ich richtig mies im "objektiv bleiben" bin. Aber wer sich einen kleinen Tipp holen möchte, ob und wieso er das Buch lesen sollte - dann scrollt weiter ;)

Doch als Diana in der altehrwürdigen Bodleian-Bibliothek in Oxford ein magisches Manuskript in die Hände fällt, kann sie ihre Herkunft nicht länger verleugnen: Hexen, Dämonen und Vampire heften sich an ihre Fersen, um ihr das geheime Wissen zu entlocken - wenn nötig mit Gewalt. Hilfe erfährt Diana ausgerechnet von Matthew Clairmont, Naturwissenschaftler, 1500 Jahre alter Vampir - und der Mann, der Diana bald schon mehr bedeuten wird als ihr eigenes Leben ..."
Am Anfang war ich weniger begeistert. Behutsam habe ich mich an die Geschichte heran getastet und konnte mir eigentlich bis zur letzten Seite eigentlich nicht eingestehen, dass es gut war. Es ähnelt twilight tatsächlich, doch es ist besser, erwachsener.
Die Charaktere sind vielschichtig und überzeugend, natürlich habe ich im Laufe der Geschichte meine Lieblinge erkoren (wie z.B. Ysabeu, Matthews Mutter) und verfolge die Geschichte mit mehr und mehr Spannung.
Klar, natürlich sind einige Gewohnheiten der Charaktere (siehe Diana: Tausendmal viel zu viel historische Fakten einfließen lassen und das sage ich, als Geschichte-Freak) etwas nervig, aber die Geschichte an sich kann das sehr schnell ausgleichen.
An dem Punkt muss ich sagen, dass ich kaum dass ich das Erste beendet, mir direkt Teil II und III geholt habe. Meine restliche Energie in Rom habe ich abends mit diesen Büchern in Bett verbracht, während ich YouTube verschmähte. Der Suchtfaktor ist auf jeden Fall da.
Also lest es euch durch, wenn ihr auf Vampire, Hexen und gaaaaaaaanz viel tolle Geschichte, Zei... ach nee, das darf ich ja nicht verraten. Psst. Spoiler für Teil II. Aber die Meinung dazu veröffentliche ich auch demnächst.
